This is the 1959 BMW 507 Series II. The BMW 507 is a roadster variant that was produced by BMW from the year 1956 until 1959 with just about 253 total examples produced over two different series. BMW only built around 34 total examples of the Series 1, which differentiates itself from the Series 2 cars by having less driver and passenger space due to it’s larger welded aluminium fuel tanks. This incredibly original example of the 507 pictured here is one of reportedly just 11 or so total cars that were sold with the optional factory hardtop, which costed around $1500 at the time. This incredibly rare 507 Series II factory hardtop roadster is quite a unique car in many ways, and each example was almost entirely hand-crafted in aluminum, and no two 507 examples are examples are exactly the same. This makes the factory hardtop cars even more interesting due to the fact that each hardtop only fits perfectly for the car it was made for, demonstrating the fact that they were entirely hand-fabricated, during a time where we didn’t have access to all of the great technologies that we have today. This car is also reported to be 1 of just about 15 total cars that were painted in factory black paint work, and clearly boasts an incredibly original interior, all of which looks stunning to see in person as a whole. The 507 was designed by German industrial designer, Albrecht von Goertz, and is clearly to this day one of the most iconic and exclusive automobiles to come out of the 1950’s. The 507 cars are powered by a 3168 cc M507/1 V8 engine sent through a 4-speed ZF manual transmission, which allows this car to have a top speed of around 122mph, and a 0-60mph time of just about 11.1 seconds. Truly one of the most legendary automobiles to see out in the wild, and all thanks to @lbilimited for bringing it out during the annual @hersheys fall meet event!
