This is the 1991 Cizeta V16T, chassis ZA9V16T00MMD38104, 1 of just around 12-14 total chassis that are believed to have been constructed, of which just around 10/11 were actually built to completion. The Cizeta Automobili SRL company was founded in 1988 by automotive engineer Claudio Zampolli in collaboration with music composer, Giorgio Moroder. Cizeta at a time consisted of a group of ex-Lamborghini employees, and the Cizeta V16T/V16T Fenice TTJ Spyder were the only products they ever made. Marcello Gandini, one of the world’s most prominent automotive designers of all time, initially submitted a design to Zampolli which was not favored at the time. Following this, Gandini’s design proposal for the Lamborghini Diablo was also not implemented, so as a result, that design was instead picked up by Zampolli to be used as the styling basis for the new V16T. Zampolli re-designed the back-end in order to suit his vision more accurately, thus resulting in a car that has very similar lines from a Lamborghini Diablo or Countach, but with just a bit of extra flare added as well. The V16T featured notable performance, stylish looks, and famously, a transverse-mounted 6.0L V16 (a cast-aluminum engine that, despite reports of it being a combination of two V8s, was it’s own bespoke creation) was the powertrain of choice. After some time, for various reasons, Moroder and Zampolli’s partnership dissolved, leaving just the first prototype to be badged as a ‘Cizeta-Moroder’. Of all of the Cizeta’s built, Italian design house and coachbuilding company, Pininfarina modified 2 examples to be equipped with Ferrari 512M Flat-12, as requested by the royal family of Brunei, who ordered a few examples for their collection in period.
How many made? 12-14 total chassis are believed to exist, with around 10 completed coupe examples, and 1 completed Spyder.
