In collaboration with @marconimuseum and in loving memory of Italian automotive engineer and pioneer behind the creation of Cizeta Automobili SRL in 1988, Claudio Zampolli, we are presenting today the unique details and history behind this unbelievably rare machine, the 1991 Cizeta V16T V12. We’ve previously covered a ‘Metallic Colbalt Blue’ 1993 Cizeta V16T that was formerly owned by the Sultan of Brunei, in the past, however, this car is quite different from just about every other Cizeta ever produced. This car shown here was the 5th V16T example built, and 1 of only 2 Cizeta examples that were later equipped with a Ferrari 512M Flat-12. In the late 1980’s, legendary Lamborghini driver & automotive engineer, Claudio Zampolli, collaborated with famous Italian car stylist, Marcello Gandini, to create what would end up becoming Zampolli’s true supercar dream. In order to accomplish this effort, famous music composer, Giorgio Moroder, would become involved in the project very early on. The relationship between Moroder and Zampolli was formed after Zampolli had spent time servicing Moroder’s Lamborghini Countach. Together, a team consisting of mostly ex-Lamborghini employees, put together one of the most unique and unprecedented super cars of all time. Moroder & Zampolli eventually parted ways, leaving only the prototype (chassis 001) to be badged as a ‘Cizeta-Moroder’. While the Cizeta V16T is most known for the 16-cylinder engine, this example features something entirely different. Of the handful of completed V16T’s, three of those cars were set to be delivered to the Royal Family of Brunei. As owners of one of the world’s largest car collections, they often had manufacturers complete bespoke projects for them. One project and or request was to replace the Cizeta V16 engine, with a Ferrari flat-12 engine. Subsequently, Pininfarina heavily modified only two Cizeta examples to be fitted with this engine for the world.
How many made? 12 chassis, only 9 V16T’s completed.
