After long research, and detailed conversation with the original company founder, John Evans, this is the 1991 Evans Series 1 (002). If you haven’t heard of Evans Automobiles, they were a Georgia-based company founded in 1984 by John Evans that designed and manufactured EPA and DOT legal GT cars along with small sports racers and formula cars. We’ve covered one other Evans model here before, the 2003 Evans 386 LM/387 Prototype (chassis 003), so make sure to check out that article as well! As for this car, the Series 1 is an EPA/DOT certified manufactured production vehicle and is by no means a ‘kit car’. The car was built with an aluminum honeycomb semi monocoque with a steel subframe & the three-piece body that was adapted for road-use derived from the mold of an Argo MJ19 Group C race car. The tail of the car was produced by Downing Composites & the nose was produced by Evans. The car weighs in at just 2,150lbs, and while it might’ve also been a track-monster, it’s fully road-legal as well, having been previously owned and driven by professional boardrider, @robbynaishus1111. Despite it’s raw & aggressive styling, everyday essentials such as air conditioning and a leather trimmed interior are actually included on this very unique machine. The body of the car itself was developed using S-glass, PVC foam, & epoxy. Shown here in these photos is chassis 002 (yellow).
