This is 1 of just 5 of it’s kind ever created for the entire world, and it’s the 1993 TWR Jaguar XJ220 S, chassis 793 (engine number 6A 10266 SB), finished in ‘Bright Red’ over a ‘Smoke Grey’ interior. This example was constructed on the 18th of February in the year 1993. The standard XJ220 model was produced under a subsidiary known as ‘JaguarSport’, and ever since the cars debut at the Birmingham Auto Show in 1988, it still remains to be one of the most intriguing cars to this day. The XJ220 was originally planned to used a V12 engine developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), however, once production began, the cars were equipped with a twin-turbocharged V6 instead. As far as the “S” variant of the XJ220 goes, TWR completed 9 total cars, but only 5 of those were made as road-going models. So that makes the XJ220 S, 1 of only 5 of its kind in the world. This car, chassis 793, is currently housed at the @marconimusuem, which is located in Tustin, California, and is home to some of the world’s most impressive automobiles on display. Notably, the XJ220 S features one-piece carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer front and rear bodywork from the factory. The ‘S’ serves as a road-going version of the XJ220-C, and due to this, the car features a stripped down race-orientated interior with kevlar seats. The 5 XJ220 S examples were nicknamed ‘The Opal Fruit Cars’ by a number of TWR engineers, and the original colors were Red (793), Green (802), Yellow (803), Blue (784) and Orange (779).
How many made?Approximately 297 chassis were manufactured (291 known completed cars). This car is a 1 of 5.
Engine: the standard XJ220 is powered by a 3.5 L (3,498 cc) twin-turbocharged Jaguar JRV-6 V6 that produces 542hp, however, for the ‘S’ variant, the engines are tuned to 690hp.
