This is a 1991 JaguarSport XJR-15 (chassis 006). The JaguarSport XJR-15 was developed by a British racing driver from Scotland by the name of Tom Walkinshaw, who also was the founder of the Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) team. Walkinshaw’s relationship with Jaguar truly ascended after his auspicious efforts racing a Jaguar XJ-S during the European Touring Car Championship in the year 1982. By the year 1988, the successful TWR-designed Jaguar XJR-9 was able to secure a victory in the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. An unprecedented desire for a racing road car was becoming evident for both TWR and Jaguar, and as a result, in the late 1980’s, TWR and Jaguar Cars Limited created a new subsidiary company known as JaguarSport. Then known as ‘R9-R’ or ‘S3’, the Peter Stevens-designed XJR-15 is mechanically based on the chassis of the XJR-9 race car. The XJR-15’s carbon monocoque tub was based on the Tony Southgate-designed Le Mans-winning XJR-9 race car and re-designed Jim Router and David Fullerton for this project. The carbon fiber components were developed by a TWR in-house company, Astec Composites, as well as an outside company, known as Dove. Andy Morrison served as the project build manager, and the XJR-15 was developed around a racing series known as the 1991 JaguarSport Intercontinental Challenge. 006 was sold by Grand Prix Classics in California in the late 90s to a client in the United Kingdom, where it was then recommissioned by @donlawracing. This is one of two (006 and 026) original green non-LM examples built from the factory, with a third green car also existing, chassis 040, which was repainted green from it’s original blue color.
