This is a spectacular 1998 Lamborghini Diablo SV (ZA9DE21A0WLA12931), this being a former factory press car, and 1 of under 400 examples (believed to be 348) of the Diablo SV between coupe & roadster that were built for the world. This particular example is a European-market SV finished in Arancio with a Nero interior. This car was completed by the factory on February 27th of 1998, and was also used as the exhibition car during the 1998 Bologna Fair. This SV was outfitted with the full array of options available for 1998 which included a rear wing, a lifting suspension, bold “Lamborghini” script on the engine bonnet grille, and a leather interior with contrasting orange stitching and piping. The SV (Super Veloce) was launched in 1995 at the Geneva Motor Show, and featured a number of exterior and mechanical enhancements over its predecessor models. Despite its power improvements, the Diablo SV quickly became Lamborghini’s entry model, and by entry, meaning the least expensive in the series of Diablo variants available at the time. Most Diablo SV examples were given a large ‘SV’ logo on the doors, however, the client could also request the factory to leave the panels alone. The Diablo SV also came standard with an adjustable rear wing, and larger breaks. In 1999, the Diablo model as a whole received a mid-cycle facelift, and the SV model became the new ‘entry-level’ trim at the time. Any true Lamborghini aficionados will be able to differentiate the 1999 model year from it’s predecessors thanks to the removal of the highly praised ‘pop-up headlights’, which have instead been replaced with composite lenses. This example is among the final units produced under the ownership of Mycom Setdco, a Malaysian investment group, and V’Power Corporation, an Indonesian firm that had acquired Lamborghini from the Chrysler Corporation in 1994. In September 1998, stewardship of the marque transitioned to the Volkswagen Group following its acquisition.
