From the unparalleled array of concept cars, design studies, and prototypes in the hands of @mortonstreetpartners, this is the unbelievably rare 1968 Sbarro Ford Formule 5000 (F5000) chassis number 22Y10. This was was constructed and designed by a small Swiss high-performance car company known as Sbarro. Italian-Swiss designer and engineer Franco Sbarro has provided some of the most unprecedented automotive creation and modifications to the world since he established the Sbarro company in the year 1971. This very special car was constructed near a municipality in the district of Jura-Nord vaudois of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland known as Yverdon-les-Bains, and the reason behind the project was in order to prepare a car for the formula 5000 racing series which was introduced in 1968. Specifically, Sbarro had just opened the ACA-Ateliers de Construction Automobile in Grandison along the shore of Lake Neuchâtel, where he would now begin focusing on the development of replica cars and designs of his own. The ‘5000’ indicates a maximum 5.0L engine capacity limit, and as you can see on the livery, this car was originally meant to be utilized by Swiss based ACA Racing Club. While the car is believed to not have spent any time racing officially in period, it did spend some time in the 2000s at the Musée national de l'Automobile in Mulhouse, Haut-Rhin, France. The Sbarro F5000 was constructed using a lightweight alloy-body with impressive aerodynamics and a powerful 4.7L Ford V8 engine, notably, a GT40 unit. The interior of the F5000 only provides the absolutely necessary instruments, gauges, and tools to operate the vehicle, with room for only one passenger. Thank you to @tom_hale_tom_hale and @mortonstreetpartners for presenting this car the way it should be shown to the world!
