This rather charismatic machine shown here is a 2005 TVR Sagaris, specifically chassis 1004, captured by the very talented @classictorque, and shown here finished in a wonderful and eye-catching shade of red. TVR is a British automotive manufacturer of sports cars that was founded in 1946 initially as ‘Trevcar Motors’. A man named Trevor Wilkinson was the founder of this company, and at first, Trevcar Motors would start their career doing basic engineering work, that wasn’t always automotive related. One year later in 1947, an auto enthusiast named Jack Pickard joined the company, and following this, the company was subsequently renamed to TVR Engineering. Two years later, in 1949, the company would produce their first ever chassis, TVR One, and ever since then, TVR has gone on to produce some extremely unique cars. With work on the Sagaris model beginning in 2001, the first ever example was fully developed by November/December of 2003, and was shown during the MPH03 Auto Show in 2003. By the year 2005, a production-ready Sagaris was being offered for sale by TVR dealerships all around the world. The TVR Sagaris was built based on a TVR T350/TVR Tamora/TVR Tuscan chassis. The Sagaris was designed by Graham Browne, Daren Hobbs, Martin Smith and Lee Hodgetts. The chief engineer of the Sagaris project was Daniel Boardman. This performance-oriented model features a myriad of air vents, intake openings, and other aerodynamically-focused body work. The Sagaris model has even seen some time on the racetrack, where it was entered at the 2011 British GT Cup by Team Winstanley, achieving two wins in it’s first season. In 2008 TVR announced a ‘Sagaris 2’, which seemingly didn’t progress much further than the prototype-stage, however, after TVR’s bankruptcy, a company known as Grex Automotive acquired the tools and forms to make the Sagaris available as a kit car in 2018.
